Among the requirements quoted from the vacancy notice:
(i) Education: A first-level degree from a university or institution of equivalent status. Candidates for this position must have passed the combined United Nations Language Competitive Examination for Translators/Précis-writers, Editors, Verbatim Reporters and Copy Preparers/Proofreaders/Production Editors in English or any United Nations language competitive examination in English held before 2017.
(ii) Languages: Fluency in English, which must be the candidate’s main language, and excellent knowledge of at least two other official languages, as tested by one of the above-mentioned United Nations language competitive examinations, are required.
(iii) Experience: A minimum of five years of experience in editing, translation, précis-writing, self-revision, verbatim reporting, copy preparing, proofreading, production editing or in another relevant language field, and using relevant computer software, electronic tools and databases, is required, of which three years preferably within a multilingual setting. Experience in programming and extensive experience in the editing of human rights or international law documentation are desirable.
